Mrs. Lerner

Today ( 19 May ) would have been 106th Dorothy Lerner's birthday. She was one of the most famous decorators in the history of Philadelphia. She passed away in 2006 at age 99. She was in business for 65 years and is most remembered for her showrooms and office on Rittenhouse Square.

Mrs. Lerner was the first decorator I ever worked for or with. She gave me my first pillow order, when I was 23, on the same day I sold my table linens designs to Nan Duskin. That was quite a spectacular day indeed! I learned a lot from Mrs. Lerner and she opened doors for me in Philadelphia and New York City. Happy Birthday Mrs. Lerner!
